Dana White Says “It Could Look Good” For Jon Jones Regarding USADA Flag
By FCF Staff
Recently Jon Jones reported that he’s “expecting” to be back fighting a lot sooner than people thought, and now UFC President Dana White has also relayed similar statements.
Jones was flagged by USADA, just days before he was supposed to fight Daniel Cormier at UFC 200, and was removed from the bout. It was reported the interim light-heavyweight champ had tested positive for estrogen blockers, which Jones denied knowingly taking. More recently, Jones said he has received “good news” regarding his USADA flag, and that he believes he’ll be back in the Octagon soon.
According to a follow up report from MMA Fighting.com, White recently appeared on The Jim Rome Show, and stated:
“I don’t even know if this is public. I didn’t know if I can talk about it,” White said. “Normally, I talk about anything, but when it comes to medical stuff, you can’t do it. It’s looking like Jon Jones did not take the drug everybody thought he took. It looks like it’s something else.
“I’ll let this thing play out and if that’s true and that’s what USADA and the Nevada State Athletic Commission say happened, it could look good for Jon Jones.”
If Jones and his team are able to demonstrate that he unknowingly took a banned substance, then the fighter will likely receive a significantly reduced suspension, rather than the mandatory two years.
