Khamzat Chimaev has made it clear he’s more than willing to fight Nate Diaz next, and it looks like the UFC is also on board with the match-up.

Following Chimaev’s dominant, submission win over Li Jingliang this past weekend at UFC 267, the rising star was asked about the possibility of fighting Diaz. The latter is on the last fight of his UFC deal and recently there’s been extensive speculation about who Diaz will fight.

Chimaev (10-0) quickly challenged Diaz to fight, while responding to the question. In a follow-up interview with TMZ, UFC President Dana White confirmed that the promotion is going to “talk” to Diaz about fighting Chimaev.

Diaz (20-13), who is coming off consecutive losses to welterweights Jorge Masvidal and Leon Edwards, has expressed an interest in fighting the likes of Vicente Luque and Tony Ferguson. According to White, however, Ferguson is taking some time off and the UFC hasn’t approached the former interim lightweight champ about fighting Diaz.
