Dana White Says Yair Rodriguez’s Been Cut, After Turning Down Zabit Magomedsharipov Bout

By FCF Staff

It looks as though Yair Rodriguez’s run with the UFC has come to a sudden end, as Dana White’s reporting the rising featherweight’s been cut from the organization.

Recently it was reported that Rodriguez and Zabit Magomedsharipov were going to fight at UFC 227, August 4th. But in a new report from the L.A. Times, White relayed that Rodriguez turned down the bout:

“The guy’s off a year, rejects a fight with Lamas and then doesn’t want to fight a guy below him in the rankings?” White said. “He can go somewhere else. We have no use for him.”

White also reportedly confirmed that the 25 year-old featherweight has been officially notified he’s been released.

Rodriguez hasn’t fought since last May, when he lost via TKO (due to doctor stoppage) against Frankie Edgar. Prior to the loss, Rodriguez (10-2) won six straight, UFC bouts.
