Dana White Tweets Daniel Cormier Will Receive Title Shot
By FCF Staff
Although Jon Jones doesn’t believe rival Daniel Cormier has done enough at light-heavyweight to receive a title shot, it looks as though the former heavyweight contender could battle for a championship next.
In a Twitter exchange yesterday, UFC President Dana White posted the following comment, while discussing the fact Cormier has yet to fight a top five ranked light-heavyweight.
@FantasyMoneyMan u will see him against the winner of Jones/Glover vs Gus

Cormier was scheduled to fight Rashad Evans in his light-heavyweight debut last month, but the former champ was forced to withdraw due to injury. Cormier ended up facing UFC newcomer Pat Cummins, and quickly stopped the accomplished wrestler in round one.
When Cormier was recently asked on Twitter if he’d prefer to wait for a title shot, the undefeated fighter stated:
"@ShaneBranscome: @dc_mma what's next? Wait for title shot or fight?" Fight

Jones is set to defend the light-heavyweight championship versus Glover Teixeira on April 26th at UFC 172. If Jones wins, the UFC has already committed to a rematch between the champion and Gustafsson. It also looks like Gustafsson will challenge for the belt next, even if Teixeira defeats Jones.
So, Cormier could spend much, if not all of 2014 on the sidelines if he were to wait for a title fight.
