Daniel Cormier Believes Third Bout With Jon Jones Would Unfold “Even Better”
By FCF Staff
Although Daniel Cormier has failed to defeat Jon Jones on two occasions now, the UFC’s light-heavyweight champ still believes he can deliver the former champ a loss.
Cormier battled Jones the first time in 2015 and lost the fight via decision. The rivals fought again last July, and Jones stopped “DC” in the third round. Since Jones proceeded to test positive for banned substances, following the fight, the result was overturned to a no-contest.
Cormier is scheduled to fight heavyweight champ, Stipe Miocic, on July 7th. But, while speaking with the media about the upcoming contest recently, the 205 champ said this (quote via Bloody Elbow):
“I want to fight Jon Jones. I do. I still feel I can win,” Cormier said. “I know that I’ve lost twice, and the last fight, I got kicked in the head. But I feel like we were having a good fight. And I feel like every fight’s been good. And I feel like if we fought a third time it would be even better.”
“I want to fight Jon Jones. That will never change.”
The 39 year-old Cormier has said that he will not fight again, after he turns 40 on March 20th, next year.
