Following a heated, backstage exchange last week between Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier, the latter has shared his side of what went down.

The rivals were on hand for a press conference last Friday, which was held by the UFC to promote its upcoming schedule. Cormier and Jones will battle at UFC 214, which will take place on July 29th in Anaheim. The two traded verbal shots during the presser, but footage also surfaced of the two being separated, prior to the event.

On the latest “UFC Tonight“, Cormier provided his own account and take of what went down (quote via Fox Sports 1 press release):

“I never said anything about his haircut. He said you can’t beat me and asked how I was going to face my kids. So it was bottle to the face. You can’t talk about my kids. Leave families out of it. It’s about me and you. All the things he mentioned: the NCAA tournament and Olympics – I went to the NCAA tournament and I went to the Olympics. All these things he wished he had done. I did them. That’s your issue, you want what I’ve got. July 29, you get to try taking it back. It’s not happening. I will beat Jon Jones in Anaheim.”

The light-heavyweight champ faced Jones for the first time in January, 2015, and lost to the now former champ by decision.
