Daniel Cormier Has “Disconnected” Himself From Jon Jones
By FCF Staff
Daniel Cormier has talked about facing Jon Jones for a third time in recent months. But, as it stands right now, the UFC’s light-heavyweight champ isn’t paying attention to his longtime rival.
Jones was in the headlines again last week, as a result of a hearing he had with the California State Athletic Commission. The CSAC revoked Jones’ license to fight in the State and fined him $205,000, since he tested positive for Turinabol after knocking out Cormier last summer.
Recently Cormier was asked by TMZ if he’s been following Jones’ saga, and the champion reportedly said this (quote via MMA Fighting):
“I have disconnected myself from that man and his issues. Once things have sorted out then I guess I’ll pay attention again”
“I’ve got bigger fish to fry: Stipe Miocic, and becoming two-division champion,” Cormier said, while referring to his July 7th bout with Miocic. “Maybe [Jones will] get an opportunity to take both belts from me or something, I don’t know.”
Jones, who has denied knowingly taking PEDs, can re-apply for a license in California after he has completed any suspension that USADA hands him.
