The plan has been for Daniel Cormier to fight Brock Lesnar next, but if that can’t happen, “DC” says Stipe Miocic deserves a rematch.

After Cormier took out Miocic last July it was announced that the UFC was going to hand Lesnar a title shot, and the expectation was Cormier – Lesnar would take place in early 2019. More recently, however, it’s been reported Lesnar has signed a new WWE deal, raising questions as to when the pro-wrestler will return to the Octagon.

More recently, Cormier appeared on “The MMA Hour“, and when asked about who he’ll fight if Lesnar cannot, the heavyweight champ said this (quote Bloody Elbow):

“If he doesn’t fight, then I’ll fight Stipe Miocic,” Cormier said. “I talked to the boss (Dana White) the other day and he’s talking to me about fights and Brock Lesnar and Jon Jones and everybody, and I said, ‘If Lesnar doesn’t go, Stipe has to be first. He deserves it, and I’ve said it from the beginning. If it ain’t Brock, I want to fight Stipe Miocic and give him what’s rightfully his, a rematch for this title.’ He’s going to get beat again, but at least he’ll get a chance to fight for that belt again.”

Miocic defended the heavyweight title a record three times before losing to Cormier in 2018.
