David Haye has relayed that the management team of Jimi Manuwa, and UFC officials have reached out, after the latter called out the British boxer earlier this month.

After Manuwa scored a walk off, KO win over Corey Anderson at UFC FN 107, the light-heavyweight contender proposed a boxing match with Hayes. While doing so, Manuwa proposed that the fight would take place on the undercard of the much discussed, yet to be signed Conor McGregor – Floyd Mayweather fighter.

Recently Hayes answered questions from fans online, and he was asked about Manuwa’s call out. Here is what he had to say (quote via ESPN):

“I was very impressed with his quick knock out the other night at the O2 Arena. If any of the mixed martial artists can convert over to be a successful boxer he has definitely got the body shape and style to do so.

“Yeah we have heard from Manuwa’s management and UFC so it is something that we are looking at at the moment. Obviously it is a little way off being confirmed. But it is a fight that would unify a lot of the fans from both UFC and boxing and make a mega event.”

Hayes is currently sidelined after he ruptured his Achilles tendon in a TKO loss to Tony Bellew earlier this month.
