Deiveson Figueiredo Says Brandon Moreno Betrayed Henry Cejudo, Vows to Take His “Head Off”

Deiveson Figueiredo has changed up his training camp ahead of his trilogy fight with Brandon Moreno, and he intends to avenge what he believes was traitorous behavior against Henry Cejudo.

The former flyweight champ has decided to move his camp from Brazil to Fight Ready MMA in Arizona, which is led by coach Eric Albarracin. The team also includes the former flyweight and bantamweight champ, Cejudo.

Moreno trained with Cejudo prior to his participation on ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ back in 2016. That season was coached by Cejudo and Joseph Benavidez. The latter picked Moreno for his team, and Moreno ended up training with Benavidez before he defeated Cejudo in December of that year.

According to Figueiredo, Moreno’s decision to train with Benavidez was a betrayal of Cejudo, and he intends to make him pay (quotes via MMA Junkie).

“I come here because the main thing was the focus and I wanted to be out of my gym,” Figueiredo said. “But I wanted to be with Cejudo and Eric because he’s the champion and he made the champion. Lions walk with lions.

“I love to be here and when I arrived Cejudo told me about Brandon Moreno, what Brandon Moreno did with him. Moreno lived two years in Cejudo’s house and after that left for another camp to help Benavidez fight Cejudo. He betrayed Cejudo. I’m going to be very happy in taking Moreno’s head off and giving it to Cejudo because in our sport you can’t be a traitor.”

Figueiredo battled Moreno to a majority draw in December, 2020, but was submitted by the champion in their rematch this past June.

The two are scheduled to fight again at the January 22nd, UFC 270 card.
