Diaz and Souza Defend Titles with Submission Wins

No Strikeforce championships changed hands at the promotion’s “Diaz vs. Cyborg” event in San Jose tonight, as both welterweight champ Nick Diaz and middleweight champion Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza defended their respective belts with submission wins. Diaz stopped a resilient and aggressive Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos with a late, second round armbar, while Souza survived an early striking onslaught from Robbie Lawler, and tapped out the veteran fighter with a third round, rear-naked-choke.
