Did Outside The Lines Step Over The Line?…

Did Outside The Lines
Step Over The Line?…

This month we ask you, the fans of our great sport, to comment on the recent ESPN Outside The Lines show on "Ultimate Fighting". Did they portray the sport fairly? Did they go out of the way to sensationalize it in a poor light? What did you think of the show overall? What did you think of the individual segments? Will it hurt or help the sport or make no difference at all? Whatever you want to say, we’re all ears. The results of the survey and some of the commentary we receive may appear in the upcoming issue of FCF.

Ring of Combat II:
A Solid Night of Action

By Jim Genia

(Secaucus, New Jersey – December 7th) Promoters Louis Neglia and Ray Longo can chalk up another successful event, as Ring of Combat II brought a solid night of action to the Meadowlands Exposition Center. Gathering together some strong local talent to compete in Muay Thai, mixed martial arts, and American kickboxing, the show delivered more than a few back-and-forth wars to thrill the crowd. Highlights of the event include:

Pete Drago Sell
Pete "Drago" Sell
  • Kickboxer Kadir Kadri’s punishing defense against champ Steve Anshelewitz’ Brazilian Jiu-jitsu brown belt-level offense. Fending off two leglock attempts and a tight armbar, Kadri eventually succumbed to a triangle choke – but not before feeding Anshelewitz a steady diet of leather.
  • Pete "Drago" Sell and Mass Destruction champ Ted Govola’s action-packed battle, which saw the two trading bombs on their feet and Drago nearly landing an umoplatta armlock and a deeply-sunk Kimura while they were on the ground. Drago earned the judges’ nod to get the win, but both men acquitted themselves well.
  • Team Tiger Schulmann standout Shennen Maceo’s quick and brutal destruction of Miguel Araoz in a Muay Thai bout that lasted only 56 seconds.
