Dominick Cruz Defends Bantamweight Belt at UFC Live 6

By FCF Staff

Dominick Cruz worked his way to a unanimous decision win over challenger Demetrious Johnson tonight at the Verizon Center in Washington, DC, to remain the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s bantamweight champion.

The noted and unorthodox striker turned to his wrestling abilities to control more of the action throughout the frenetic, five round fight, becoming just the second man to defeat Johnson in eleven fights.

And in the card’s other feature attraction, the 6’11 tall Stefan Struve was unable to land any telling strikes against the much shorter, 5’11 Pat Barry in the opening round of their heavyweight tilt , as the aggressive Barry blasted away at the Dutch fighter’s legs with kicks.

In round two, however, Struve elected to take the powerful striker to the mat, and after doing so worked his way into a beautifully executed triangle choke. Although Barry attempted to slam his way out of the submission, Struve managed to hold onto the choke and forced the fight ending tap out.

Here are the official results from tonight’s UFC Live on Versus 6 card.
