By FCF Staff
Tthere’s been no official word that Conor McGregor and Donald Cerrone are fighting next, but the latter says he’s going to battle the superstar this summer. In addition, “Cowboy” has made his prediction for the rumored fight.
Cerrone has been campaigning for a bout with McGregor for a little while now, and after Cerrone stopped Alex Hernandez last month, the former lightweight champ said he was interested in the contest. Cerrone attended a fan Q&A this weekend for UFC 234, and the rugged vet had this to say about fighting McGregor (quotes via MMA Fighting):
“It’s definitely gonna be this year,” Cerrone said. “This summer, I think, right? Hey, Irish, Australian, American. F*ckin’ root for whoever you want. I’m going in there to fight. I love it, man. I don’t care — boo, cheer.
“How about second-round head kick?” Cerrone said when asked to make a prediction.
McGregor is coming off a fourth round, submission loss to lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov in November.
