Duffee

By Tom Taylor

India’s biggest mixed martial arts promotion, Super Fight League, has bolstered the lineup of its second show. A heavyweight showdown between Todd Duffee (6-2) and Neil Grove (11-5-1) has been added to the card, along with a middleweight scrap between Ikuhisa Minowa (53-22-8) and Alexander Shlemenko (44-7), and a lightweight fight between Paul Kelly (12-4) and Gabe Ruediger (17-8-0).

Todd Duffee was once thought to be one of the UFC’s most promising young stars. Blasting Tim Hague in his first UFC outing, Duffee then fell to Mike Russow, losing by knockout in the third round. Following a split with the UFC, Duffee went on to suffer another knockout loss at the hands of UFC title contender Allistair Overeem. He will look to rebound from these losses against Neil Grove, a Bellator Fighting Championships veteran, who has also lost his two most recent fights to Mike Hayes and Thiago Santos.

Minowa, the 2009 Dream Super Hulk Tournament Champion, recently had a five fight winning streak shattered by Kendall Grove. Following this loss, Minowa secured a first round submission win over Shigeki Tsuchiya and will look to add to this streak in India. Against Shlemenko, he will face a man riding a seven fight win streak. Shlemenko is also a two-time Bellator middleweight tournament winner.

Super Fight League’s second event will also boast a lightweight affair between UFC veterans Paul Kelly and Gabe Ruediger. Kelly’s last fight, a loss to Donald Cowboy Cerrone over a year ago at UFC 126, resulted in his departure from the UFC. 2-3 in his last five, Kelly will look to get back in the win column against Ruediger, who will carry a three fight losing streak into the fight.

Super Fight League 2 will take place on April 7th, in Chandigarh, India. It will be aired live and free of charge on YouTube.
