The UFC has added another big stakes fight to its spring schedule, as Max Holloway and Dustin Poirier are going to battle for an interim lightweight title on April 13.

The bout will be part of UFC 236, which will take place in Atlanta, Georgia. UFC President Dana White reported the match-up to ESPN, and also informed the outlet that Tony Ferguson had been offered the bout with Holloway, but that he turned it down.

The featherweight champ Holloway (20-3) is riding a thirteen fight winning streak and is coming off a stoppage win over Brian Ortega in December.

Poirier (24-5, 1 no contest), who submitted Holloway back in 2012, has gone 4-0, with 1 no contest in his last 5 fights. In his last outing, which took place in July, 2018, he stopped Eddie Alvarez.
