The UFC was working on adding a lightweight fight between former interim champs Tony Ferguson and Dustin Poirier to its October 24th card. But, Poirier is reporting that he will not be facing Ferguson on that date.

UFC 254 is scheduled to take place next month on October 24th, which is the same card lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov will take on interim champ, Justin Gaethje.

Recently, however, Poirier told ESPN that talks to make the fight failed.

“UFC and I didn’t come to terms,” Poirier said. “I will not be fighting on Oct. 24.”

“I just need to be compensated if they want this fight,” he said. “Simple as that.

“I’m a prize fighter and the prize needs to be right.”

The 31-year-old Poirier (26-6, 1 no-contest) is coming off a decision win over Dan Hooker in June. Prior to that, he was submitted by Nurmagomedov last September.
