Although November is fast approaching, Dustin Poirier says talks are ongoing to book a rematch between him and Conor McGregor in 2020.

Not long ago, McGregor challenged Poirier to a charity match in Ireland, and the former interim champ agreed. A few days ater, UFC President Dana White reported the promotion had sent out offers for McGregor – Poirier 2.

More recently, McGregor said he’s willing to rematch Poirier, provided the fight takes place in 2020. Since then, Poirier spoke with boxing trainer sand commentator,  Teddy Atlas, and he reported the following (quote via MMA Mania).

“Right now they have a list of events that are already booked with headliners and I think the UFC is angling for this to be somewhere in January and Conor’s wanting to fight this year, as do I,” Poirier said. “I want to fight in 2020, I want one more fight this year. I think it’s those kinds of things slowing things down from getting the fight done, but the negotiations are alive.”

Poirier and McGregor fought for the first time in 2014 and the latter won the fight via first round, stoppage.
