Courage Fighting Results

UFC veteran CJ Fernandes made his return to the cage after a three-year layoff Saturday and defeated tough Kenny Jarrell by submission at the end of the first round at the Courage Fighting Championships in Decatur, Ill.

Fernandes (20-6) had to fight his way out of a deep guillotine choke the first 2 minutes of the fight, but secured top position and was able to get mount and finish off Jarrell (10-3) with a keylock at 4:50 of the first round. Jarrell stepped in to take the fight on a half-day’s notice when original opponent Jason Coomer reportedly was injured hitting mitts the day before the event.
