FFC 35 Results: Ben Egli submits Joey Holt to retain Welterweight Title

By Press Release

Final Fight Championship returned to the Fight Dome in Las Vegas for the first time in 2019, bringing an incredible night of MMA, Boxing and Kickboxing. Ben Egliovercame a tough start to submit challenger Joey Holt, retaining his FFC Welterweight Championship.

Holt dropped Egli in the first, and Egli did well to survive an onslaught of attacks from the challenger in the opening round. Egli threatened with a choke at the start of the second round, but Holt escaped despite it looking tight. At the second time of asking, Egli’s guillotine proved too much, submitting the challenger and retaining his welterweight crown.

Clay Collard picked up his first victory in the Fight Dome, outpointing Randall Wallace in a back-and-forth bout. Collard proved to hold a sizeable advantage in the endurance department, attempting spinning elbows and even a rolling thunder up until the final bell! Collard took the victory on the judge’s scorecards and looks to make an impact of the FFC lightweight division.

Kyle Reyes scored a big win on his FFC debut, submitting Walel Watson in just two minutes! The Guam national, who fights out of Las Vegas proved to be too hot to handle on the canvas, with Watson spending the majority of the fight trying to escape the choke. Watson was forced to submit, with Reyes picking up a big win in the MMA featherweight division.

Kevin Johnson and Larry Gomez went to war in our boxing bout, with their super lightweight contest set to go down as one of the best in FFC history. Johnson and Gomez traded their best shots back-and-forth, but neither man would hit the canvas. This boxing bout was not-to-be-missed and we recommend you check it out! Johnson took the nod over his opponent, with the judge’s split!

Adrian Weathersbywas forced to work hard to earn a decision victory over a durable Chris Burgett in our sole kickboxing bout of the evening. Weathersby dropped Burgett with heavy knees in the first round, but Burgett got back to his feet and kept marching forward. Blackledge managed to earn the decision on the judge’s scorecards, and moves to 1-0 as a professional.

Sherrard Blackledgeand Brandon Olson had a wild first round, with both men threatening on the feet and with submissions. In the second round… Blackledge took control, dropping Olson and eventually stopping him with strikes on the ground midway through the second round.

Max Rohskopfearned a first round submission victory in his hometown, after a beautiful rear-naked choke. Rohskopf dropped Hussein in the opening exchange and immediately looked for a guillotine. Hussein managed to recover and pursue a submission of his own, before Rohskopf took control and took his opponent’s back and forced Hussein to submit.
