Many observers have predicted that Floyd Mayweather Jr. would return to the ring for another bout, but chances are no one saw the undefeated boxer fighting under the Rizin FF banner.

Recently the Japanese promotion announced that Mayweather will take on rising star, Tenshin Nasukawa at Rizin’s December 31st card in Saitama, Japan. Rizin’s Nobuyuki Sakakibara reported at a press conference announcing the fight that it will be conducted under “special rules”, but no additional details were provided.

The contest was initially reported by BJ Penn.com.

The 41 year-old Mayweather (50-0) hasn’t competed since August, 2017, when he stopped Conor McGregor in the tenth round of their boxing match.

The 20 year-old Nasukawa is widely regarded to be as one of the top prospects in combat sports, on account of his 27-0 record in kickboxing and 4-0 record in MMA.
