Floyd Mayweather Says Chances of Move to MMA Are “50/50”
By FCF Staff
Many people have argued that Floyd Mayweather’s comments about moving into MMA have all been part of a PR stunt. But, recently the decorated boxer said the chances of him fighting in the cage are “50/50”.
The undefeated fighter has been talking about taking him a MMA bout for several weeks now, and while taking to Fight Hype recently, Mayweather said this (quote via MMA Fighting):
“I started training already,” said Mayweather. “Not the physical part, just the endurance part. I’m thinking about fighting in MMA. I’ve thought about it. I started training in Miami. I look forward to fighting probably at the end of the year. We don’t know. Right now it’s 50/50, it’s not 100 percent but I’ve already started training. . . I really don’t know yet but I’m very, very interested. We’ll just see. Everything takes time. Everything takes time.”
Mayweather’s last boxing bout took place in August, 2017, when he stopped UFC champ Conor McGregor in the tenth round. In the interview, Mayweather said he would be interested in fighting McGregor in the Octagon if the “numbers” are right.
The aforementioned win moved Mayweather’s record to 50-0.
