Fodor vs. Wilcox Amongst Latest Bouts Confirmed for Dec. 17th Strikeforce

Wilcox

By FCF Staff

Strikeforce has confirmed three more preliminary bouts for the promotion’s upcoming December 17th card in San Diego, including a notable lightweight tilt between Caros Fodor and Justin Wilcox.

Wilcox (11-3) is undefeated in his last eight fights, and has worked his way into the title shot mix, by going 5-1 with one no contest under the Strikeforce banner. In June, the accomplished wrestler’s bout with “JZ” Cavalcante was declared a no contest, after Wilcox could not continue due to an accidental eye poke.

Fodor (6-1) has also battled his way to the top of the promotion’s division by winning four straight. The AMC Pankration fighter also hasn’t competed since June, when he worked his way to a unanimous decision win over James Terry.

At welterweight, Roger Bowling will look to get back on track versus Jerron Peoples.

Bowling (9-2) is coming off a TKO and rubber match loss to Bobby Voelker in July, after scoring a UD win over Josh Thornburg in March.

Peoples (4-1) hasn’t competed since his Strikeforce debut in June, when he was stopped by Eduardo Pamplona.

The last bout to be confirmed for the upcoming card is a heavyweight tilt between Devin Cole and Gabriel Salinas-Jones.

Cole (19-9-1) worked his way to a unanimous decision win over Shawn Jordan in July, after dropping back-to-back bouts to Aaron Rosa and Daniel Cormier.

Salinas-Jones (5-0-1) made his Strikeforce debut in July and submitted Bryan Humes with a third round, Brabo choke.

The upcoming December 17th card, which will be hosted by San Diego’s Valley View Casino Center, will be headlined by a lightweight bout between champion Gilbert Melendez and challenger Jorge Masvidal.

The event will broadcast on Showtime.
