Former MMA fighter and New York University Assistant Wrestling Coach Alexander Chianurashvili was arrested by Port Authority police for attempting to evade an E-Z pass toll with a “flip-up” license plate his motorcycle on Monday, June 25.

The 29-year-old Chianurashvili, who went undefeated (3-0) in his professional MMA career as a light heavyweight (205 pounds) between 2005 and 2007, was apprehended as he approached the George Washington Bridge.  He faces charges of theft of services and possession of burglar tools, which he allegedly used to install the plate.

The Cliffview Pilot reported that Chianurashvili told police he had purchased the plate online for $75.

By pushing a button near the handle bars on his 2003 Kawasaki, Chianurashvili could drop the license plate so it wouldn’t register at bridge tolls.  He allegedly did this with success at least a dozen times.

Chianurashvili, a Russian Sambo and Judo stylist also trained in Kyokushin Karate, was undefeated in an MMA career that spanned four amateur and three professional fights.
