Former Pride Ref Yuji Shimada to Oversee Fedor vs. Monson

M-1 Global has announced today that veteran Japanese referee Yuji Shimada will oversee the Fedor Emelianenko versus Jeff Monson bout that is scheduled for Sunday, November 20th in Moscow, Russia.

Shimada was the presiding official for many of Pride’s most important bouts, and more recently, the referee has overseen matches for DREAM as well as Strikeforce.

M-1 Global’s “Battle of Legends” will also feature M-1 Challenge Lightweight Champion Jose Figueroa (10-4) versus German challenger Daniel Weichel (27-7), welterweight Aleksander Yakoviev (12-3) vs. Spanish prospect Juan Manuel “Juanma” Suarez (8-0), Austrian welterweight Mairbek “Beckan” Taisumov (15-3) vs. American Josh Thorpe (10-6), and Russian middleweight Arthur Guseinov (9-2) vs. French veteran Xavier “Professor X” Foupa-Pokam (21-16).

Sunday’s main card will be available via online pay-per-view through ustream.tv. The event will be hosted by Moscow’s Olympic Hall.
