Foundation set up to raise funds for ill son of UFC vet Dan Miller

By FCF Staff

Although Dan Miller has continued to battle some of the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s most established middleweights in the last two years of his career, the veteran and his family have also faced the struggles tied to Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD). Miller’s son Danny Jr., who was born in January, 2010, is afflicted with the genetic kidney disorder, which often requires a transplant to help facilitate a normal life.

As a result of the procedure’s cost, and the medication that PKD patients require, a foundation has been set up to help raise funds for Miller’s son titled the Daniel James Miller Foundation.

According to the foundation’s website, “the living donor’s surgery has been declared elective, forcing her to pay out of pocket to provide Danny with the kidney he requires.” The site adds: “Although currently all donations will go to the costs of Danny and his donor’s surgeries as well as Danny’s medication, in the future the Foundation hopes to continue its fundraising endeavors to not only help Danny and his family, but also to help other families battling PKD to make a positive difference in the lives of many children.”

Miller’s home gym, the AMA Fight Club in Whippany, NJ, will also be holding a MMA seminar on December 3rd to help raise funds for Danny Jr.  In addition to Dan, his younger brother and lightweight contender Jim Miller will be in attendance, as will Andy Main and Charlie Brenneman.
