World Series of Fighting will crown its first ever middleweight champion later this year by utilizing a tournament format. The competition will get underway at the promotion’s upcoming fourth event on August 10th, and will continue through it’s fifth event in September and conclude in December.

The news was reported by MMA Fighting.com and re-tweeted by WSOF President Ray Sefo.

According to the report, the tourney competitors will be UFC vet Jesse Taylor, former MFC champion Elvis Mutapcic, David Branch and Danilo Villefort.

Branch and Villefort both picked up wins at the recent WSOF 2 card in March by handing Paulo Filho and Kris McCray decision losses respectively.

The tournament will be broadcast on the NBC Sports Network.
