FOX Sports’ Colin Cowherd: Sources Say Conor McGregor – Floyd Mayweather Will “Happen”

Conor McGregor

A recent report that Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor could face off in a boxing match has been dismissed by many MMA insiders, including UFC President Dana White, but sources have told Colin Cowherd the fight is happening.

The FOX Sports’ host relayed on a recent episode of “The Herd” that sources have informed him the bout is going to take place, in mid September. According to Cowherd things “changed late last week”. Cowherd opined that since Mayweather – McGregor would stand to make CBS, FOX Sports and the UFC so much money, the fight could be in the works.

UFC executives Dana White and Lorenzo Fertitta met with both McGregor and Nate Diaz last week. According to reports, however, the meeting with the latter failed to bring about a deal for McGregor – Diaz II.

On Sunday, ESPN aired an interview with McGregor, where the UFC’s featherweight champ argued that Mayweather “needs me, I don’t need him.”
