Following his victorious bantamweight debut earlier this month, it remains to be seen who Frankie Edgar will fight next. But, the former lightweight champ would be down to face former bantamweight champ, Dominick Cruz.

Edgar (24-8) faced Pedro Munhoz at the UFC’s August 22nd card in Las Vegas, and received the split decision nod. Since then, the 38-year-old spoke with Bruce Buffer on his podcast, and he relayed he’d be interested fighting Cruz next (quotes via Bloody Elbow).

“Another guy that’s also a little older and a legend himself is Dominick Cruz. A lot of people are talking about that, so I’m definitely interested,” Edgar said. “The title is obviously my main goal, where my sight’s on, but it doesn’t have to be right away, and I’m willing to fight some of those legacy fights as well.

“I don’t know, it’d be tough,” Edgar said, while talking about how he’d approach fighting Cruz. “You chase him, he’s really good at that, and you don’t want him chasing you either. So I think you got to mix it up and try a little cat and mouse game with him.”

Cruz (22-3) hasn’t fought since the 34-year-old was stopped by now former champ, Henry Cejudo in May.
