Georges St-Pierre’s comeback bout hasn’t been announced yet, but according to one of his coaches, the Canadian star intends to become a world champion once again.

Recently UFC President Dana White announced the promotion and St-Pierre have finalized a new deal, paving the way to the former welterweight champ’s, long awaited return. GSP hasn’t fought since 2013, when he announced he was taking a hiatus from the sport, following a decision win over Johny Hendricks.

Recently the renowned boxing coach, Freddie Roach, appeared on “The MMA Hour”. Roach has helped train St-Pierre in the sweet science now for several years. While discussing St-Pierre’s abilities as a fighter, and what they hope to accomplish in his comeback, Roach stated (quote via MMA Fighting):

“You can see things when people start slowing down as a trainer,” Roach said, while reflecting on training sessions he had with St-Pierre last year. “I will tell people to retire when they need to. At this point, I thought Georges had a lot more fights left in him.”

“We didn’t to come back just to come back,” Roach added. “We wanted to come back to be world champion. We wanted to be the best.”

Before his new contract was signed, GSP expressed an interest in fighting middleweight champ, Michael Bisping next.
