Full Contact Fighter’s “The Daily Takedown:” Bigfoot Puts His Big Foot In His Mouth; Overeem Predicts Cain Over JDS

With the Junior Dos Santos vs. Cain Velasquez megafight just around the corner, the UFC’s heavyweight division appears to be taking its rightful spot at the center of the UFC universe.

But that doesn’t mean that Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva shouldn’t watch his mouth.  In a published report, he said he could beat Alistair Overeem even if “he was created in a lab.”

Bigfoot is riding high right now because of his KO victory over one-legged Travis Browne earlier this month. Now he thinks he can beat Overeem.

Chael Sonnen has a better chance of knocking out Jon Jones than Bigfoot has of beating Overeem. Like Barry Bonds, Overeem somehow turned a once-skinny frame into a massive, thick body. And like Bonds, Overeem is more than a muscle head. He’s a very talented and smart fighter. He’s much smarter than Bigfoot.

It’s still a mystery how Bigfoot ever managed to defeat Fedor Emelianenko, but chances are he’s never going to be able to do that against Overeem, a powerful puncher and kicker.

Silva should focus on defeating Browne in an inevitable rematch. A healthy Browne would take Silva’s mind off of Overeem.

Meanwhile Overeem, says he won’t have to fight JDS because he predicts Cain Velasquez will defeat him. If promoted correctly, a Velasquez vs. Overeem fight could do huge Pay Per View numbers. A true Godzilla vs. King Kong matchup, the fight would rival the old Riddick Bowe vs. Evander Holyfield clashes in boxing from the 1990s.

Hopefully Josh Barnett finagles his way back into the UFC for a run at the heavyweight championship. Barnett is rumored to defend his Pancrase title next year, but the real money would be to see him fight JDS, Velasquez or Overeem. Barnett choked in his battle with Daniel Cormier, after breaking hand in the first round, but he’s still a top fighter. And like Sonnen, he’s a great talker.
