Full Contact Fighter’s “The Daily Takedown:” Boxer vs. Wrestler Talk Pointless; No One Wants To Win A Fixed Fight

Pound for pound boxing king Floyd Mayweather, Jr.

By Joshua Molina

So Joe Rogan says an average college wrestler would destroy Floyd Mayweather Jr? Duh. Of course he would. In a wrestling match.

In a stand-up fight Cael Sanderson wouldn’t be able to touch Mayweather.

It’s always stupid to compare genres and ask “who would win.” I also bet Roy Nelson would crush Lebron James in a real fight. That doesn’t mean Nelson is a better athlete.

. . . If Nick Diaz comes back to fight he should fight Tyron Woodley. The former college wrestling star used to complain that Diaz ducked him before signing with the UFC.

Let these guys settle a score in what would be a good fight featuring old Strikeforce guys.

. . . Speaking of Strikeforce, too bad Tarec Saffiedine pulled out of a July 27 fight with Robbie Lawler. Saffiedine dismantled Nate Marquardt and was poised for UFC stardom.

He’ll be back, but too bad his momentum stalled.

. . . People are still talking about the Anderson Silva vs. Chris Weidman fight being fixed.

It’s not crazy to think Silva took a dive.

It seems like everyone believed Weidman was going to win. And who knew all it would take to knock out the great Silva was a combination, followed by a quick beatdown.

Who knows if the fight was fixed. Who cares. There’s a rematch coming.
And Weidman better be prepared for blood. He must leave no doubt about a fixed fight and crush Silva.

The only thing worse than losing a fixed fight is winning one.
