Full Contact Fighter’s “The Daily Takedown”: Carlos Condit Has Chance To Rebound Tonight

Condit

By Joshua Molina

UFC on Wednesday night just doesn’t feel right, but at least it’s a strong card featuring one of the best welterweights in the world.

Carlos Condit battles Martin Kampmann, in a big-time fight with title implications. Condit should win. He’s probably the second-best welterweight in the world and if he fights George’s St-Pierre again, might be able to beat him.

Condit was the first guy to wipe away the sheen on Nick Diaz and Diaz hasn’t won a fight since.

Condit, of course, nearly KO’d GSP with a head kick. GSP showed character and fought back to win the fight. But Condit is a better fighter now and you have to believe he will be a champion again at some point.

Kampmann has been more inconsistent. He’s shown flashes of greatness during his career, but always loses the big fights, like against Jake Shields and Johny Hendricks.

In many ways, it feels like we have already seen the best Kampmann. We don’t know great Condit, however, can be.

The winner of this fight deserves a title shot. Condit, who is just getting better, might be the breakout star after tonight’s UFC Fight Night 27.
