Chael Sonnen will headline Fight Night against Mauricio “Shogun” Rua on Fox Sports 1 on Aug. 17.

Is there any conceivable way that Sonnen is going to win this fight? Sonnen has some tremendous excuses for losing his last two fights badly. He happened to be fighting two of the best fighters in the world in Anderson Silva and Jon Jones.

He won’t have that luxury against Rua, is well past his prime and has lost three of his last five fights.

Sonnen will have his hands full against Rua. He won’t knock him out. He may steal a decision. But the most likely outcome is Rua by KO.

Sonnen is slowing down and Rua is a bad fight for him. Right now Sonnen still has a big fan following and a good career as a Fox broadcaster. Let’s hope that he gives up his title dreams and moves to broadcast booth full-time, before people forget that he was nearly the first guy to expose Silva inside the cage.

Paul Daley belongs back in the UFC. The heavy hitter famously was banned from the UFC after he hit Josh Koscheck after the bell.

UFC President Dana White vowed to never let Daley back inside the UFC cage after that and has held true to his promise. Daley TKO’d Lukasz Chlewicki last night for his fourth straight victory. He may not want back in the UFC, but if the UFC is really the home of the greatest mixed martial artists, Daley deserves a second chance.

So Anderson Silva started crying when asked about those who think he threw the fight against Chris Weidman. Get over it. It’s a compliment. No one can actually believe that Silva would lose to Weidman, so it had to be fixed, right?

Not to mention the fact that the so-called best mixed martial artist in the world got dropped after two punches. It just seems like Silva should have been able to stand up to that. After all, he’s the greatest mixed martial artist in the world, right?

Of course, Silva did not throw the fight. That’s ridiculous. But it’s also ridiculous that he would drop his hands and toy with Weidman and leave himself open for the big KO.

Next time, Silva, just go out there and fight.
