Full Contact Fighter’s “The Daily Takedown:” Invicta FC Headed to Pay Per View; Miesha Mouths Off

By Joshua Molina

Invicta FC returns Saturday night with its first foray into online Pay Per View.

Invicta offered its first three shows for free on the web as a way to build an audience for the all-women’s mixed martial arts company.

Invicta will charge $7.95 to watch the  show live at invictafc.com.

Invicta was created at a time when Strikeforce was promoting female fighters, but before UFC President Dana White hopped on board.

Ronda Rousey, who will debut in the UFC when she defends her bantamweight championship on Feb. 23, is just one of dozens of rising female fighters who are making breakthroughs in MMA.

Invicta FC will likely benefit from Rousey’s success because despite the UFC’s recent interest, Invicta is the only place to regularly see the best female fighters in the world.

Speaking of female fighters, Miesha Tate mouthed off again on Twitter after Cain Velasquez’s beat-down of Junior Dos Santos to recapture the UFC heavyweight gold.

Tate tweeted that she thought Velasquez missed several opportunities to finish JDS with a rear naked choke.

“I was like “JUST GO FOR IT!!!” I wanted to see him go for that finish, he still won but I think its always risky to leave it in the judges hands when you clearly have a wide open opportunity to finish the fight and he also risked getting caught with a punch,” Tate said.

Interesting submission advice from a woman who practically let Rousey take her arm home with her.

Velasquez apparently knew what he was doing, which is more that can be said for Tate, who talked trash about Rousey, said she didn’t deserve a title shot, and dropped the title to Rousey by armbar submission in the first round.

Tate refused to tap, straining her ligaments, before she eventually quit.

Tate then said last year that she wasn’t ready for a rematch, which led to her missing out on fighting Rousey in the first UFC women’s fight.

Tate should watch Velasquez’s fight to study how to get revenge against an opponent who destroyed you the first time.
