Full Contact Fighter’s “The Daily Takedown”: No Drama KJ Noons To Make UFC Debut; Anniversary Of “Macho Man’s” Death

Strikeforce's KJ Noons kicking Nick Diaz

By Joshua Molina

Now, it’s KJ Noons’ turn.

The former Strikeforce star will make his UFC debut Saturday night against hard-hitting Donald Cerrone.

Let’s hope he doesn’t choke like Luke Rockhold or leave his mojo at home like Gilbert Melendez.

Whatever happens, Noons will put on a good show. A tamer version of Nick Diaz, Noons likes to stand and bang — and he usually comes out on top.

Even in defeat, Noons never looks bad.

Despite the decision, most people believe he won his last fight against Ryan Couture.

He also holds a TKO victory over Nick Diaz.

Noons, whose father was a pro boxer, also has strong defense, so don’t expect him to pull a Rockhold and put his hands down.

This will be a back-and-forth war and Noons, win or lose, should emerge Saturday night as a big star.

You never get a lot of fake drama with KJ, like you do with Diaz and other sluggers.

Noons a is a quiet tough guy, who fights hard everytime he steps into the cage.

A year from now, he might be one of the only Strikeforce guys still relevant in the UFC.

. . . Today is the two-year anniversary of the death of former pro wrestler and minor league baseball star Randy “Macho Man” Savage.

Savage, who died of a heart attack, was a big star in many circles, including the MMA community.

Here’s a link to UFC star Rashad Evans’ thoughts on the Macho Man.
