Full Contact Fighter’s “The Daily Takedown”: Who Is The Last Of The Unbeatables?

UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva

By Joshua Molina

Is anyone unbeatable anymore?

The demise of Anderson Silva has brought everyone back down to earth.

Yes, it’s true. No once is invincible.

Look at some of the greats in the game who have all met the same fate:

Silva: KO’d.
Cain Velasquez: KO’d.
Fedor Emelianenkp: KO’d.
George St-Pierre (it’s been awhile, but KO’d).
Brock Lesnar: KO’d.
Luke Rockhold: KO’d.
Eddie Alvarez: KO’d.

The bigger they are, the harder they fall.

In a fight, anybody can win.

There are still a few unblemished stars.

Jon Jones, of course, had destroyed everyone he has faced. Still, he doesn’t seem unbeatable.

Vitor Belfort’s near armbar submission proved that Jones is vulnerable.

What about Ronda Rousey?

She’s a tiger in the cage, but Liz Carmouche proved that she’s also not beatable. Carmouche was seconds and inches away from choking out Rousey.

She may be the best female fighter in the world, but she’s not perfect.

Benson Henderson? Although he was never in danger, he nearly lost to Gilbert Melendez in April. Although he’s never been KO’d, he has submitted.

Demetrious Johnson? He’s never been KO’d or tapped.

What about Daniel Cormier? The heavyweight hasn’t tasted trouble yet in the cage. Other than lingering hand issues, and some fight fatigue, Cormier has looked dominant.

When will his time come?

No one is unbeatable in the fight business. It’s all about styles, timing, skill, ability and luck.

The world will never look at Anderson Silva the same again.

He’s a damn good fighter. But he’s just a man. And no one is unbeatable.
