Gegard Mousasi Fighting Ovince St. Preux at Dec. 17th Strikeforce

Mousasi

By FCF Staff

Strikeforce has announced that former light-heavyweight champion Gegard Mousasi will take on the rising Ovince St. Preux at the promotion’s upcoming December 17th event. The location and venue for the card has not been officially announced.

Mousasi (31-3-2) will be competing for the first time since July when he stopped Hiroshi Izumi at DREAM’s “Fight for Japan” event. In his last Strikeforce appearance, which took place in April, the 26 year-old-fighter battled Keith Jardine to a draw.

Mousasi is 3-1-1 in his last five fights with his only loss during that stretch coming to former champ Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal.

St. Preux (11-4) is riding an eight fight win streak which includes victories over vets like Benji Radach, Jason Day and Antwain Britt. The 28 year-old and former collegiate football player is coming off a stoppage win over Joe Cason in July.

No other bouts have been confirmed for the December 17th event, however, it is expected that lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez will take on challenger Jorge Masvidal at the card.
