George Sotiropoulos Meets KJ Noons At UFC 166

Former EliteXC lightweight champion KJ Noons and Australian submission fighter George Sotiropoulos are fighting for their UFC lives when they meet at UFC 166 on October 19.

Noons has lost five of his last six fights inside the cage, while Sotiropoulos is on a three-fight skid in the UFC octagon.

This will be a great clash of styles, with Noons trying to keep the fight standing to outstrike Sotiropoulos, and the Australian will look to turn this fight into a grappling match.

Noons has faced the harder competition throughout his UFC and Strikeforce career, though has had issues with injuries, with Sotiropoulos typically able to force his fight style upon opponents.

I expect Noons to avoid the takedown and either finish this fight by TKO late in the third round, or he should be able to pick up the unanimous win. Sotiropoulos is a very accomplished grappler and has been able to out grapple the likes of Joe Lauzon and Joe Stevenson, but he has a suspect chin that Noons can target.

Considering it is possible the loser will receive a pink slip, expect both lightweights to come out hungry and ready to fight.

Follow Full Contact Fighter for full UFC 166 results next month, with a main event trilogy fight between Cain Velasquez vs. Junior Dos Santos III for the UFC heavyweight championship. The co-main event is a heavyweight fight between Daniel Cormier and Roy Nelson, with both fighters trying to prove their worth in the division.
