Georges St-Pierre Says Tyron Woodley Made a “Mistake” by Posting Text Exchange
By FCF Staff
Georges St-Pierre clearly has a lot of respect for Tyron Woodley, but the star says the newly crowned champ made a mistake, when he publicly posted a text exchange between the two.
After Woodley KO’d Robbie Lawler at UFC 201 to secure the 170 title, he proceeded to call for a fight with GSP. The powerful wrestler also posted a text exchange he had with St-Pierre, whereby the two discussed the possibility of fighting.
Recently St-Pierre appeared on “UFC Tonight“, and while discussing Woodley, the Tristar fighter stated (quote via FOX Sports 1 press release):
“I like him, but he’s not my friend. I respect him as a person. He’s great. He texted me and says he challenged me. He said ‘Just to let you know it’s not to disrespect you. You’re the man to beat.’ I said, ‘Yeah, if UFC wants to do it, make the negotiations go well.’ Then went public and that wasn’t good. I think that was a mistake.”
GSP also reported on the show that although he wants to return to the Octagon, he has yet to sign a new deal with the UFC, which would allow that to happen.
