Gilbert Burns – Belal Muhammad Bout to Co-Headline UFC 288
By FCF Staff
UFC 288 has picked up a pivotal, short-notice fight, as welterweights Gilbert Burns and Belal Muhammad have agreed to fight at the upcoming card.
The May 6th event recently lost its original co-headliner, as Charles Oliveira was forced to withdraw from a bout with Beneil Dariush, due to injury.
More recently, however, the UFC announced that Burns and Muhammad will battle on that date in a five-round, co-main event.
Burns (22-5) is coming off a decision win over Jorge Masvidal earlier this month at UFC 287, and is 3-2 in his last five fights.
Muhammad (22-3) stopped Sean Brady in his last contest, which took place in October. The welterweight has gone undefeated in nine straight fights.
UFC 288 is taking place in Newark, New Jersey, and will feature bantamweight champ Aljamain Sterling versus former champ, Henry Cejudo, in the main event.
