GLORY 23: Nieky Holzken Reclaims Welterweight Crown
By FCF Staff
Raymond Daniels pushed Nieky Holzken throughout their headliner at GLORY 23, but the latter ended up securing the vacant welterweight crown with a stoppage win.
Early on, the agile Daniels countered the renowned fighter well, but in round three, Holzken landed several hard shots that opened up a huge cut on his left eyelid. Referee John McCarthy had no choice but to stop the fight, handing Holzken the welterweight title once again.
The Dutch fighter won the belt back in 2013, but was forced to vacate the title due to a shoulder injury.
Joseph Valtellini was the champion until just recently, when he vacated the title due to post concussion syndrome.
