GLORY 9: Fighters on Weight For NYC Event

New York, N.Y. (June 21, 2013) – All 30 fighters, including superstars Tyrone “King of the Ring” Spong (69-6-1, 43 KOs) of Boca Raton, Fla. via Suriname and Daniel “The Savage Samurai” Ghita (46-9, 35 KOs) of Romania as well as local rising stars Brett Hlavacek (8-1, 3 KOs) of New York, N.Y., and Wayne Barrett (1-0, 1 KO) of Queens, N.Y. made weight one day before the GLORY 9 New York kickboxing mega-event tomorrow, Saturday, June 22 at Hammerstein Ballroom at Manhattan Center.

Spong weighed in at 209.1 pounds and his GLORY 9 New York light heavyweight (209 pounds) tournament quarterfinal stage opponent, Michael Duut (38-3, 17 KOs) of The Netherlands weighed in at 207.1 pounds.

Filip Verlinden (40-9-1, 16 KOs) of Belgium weighed in at 207.2 pounds and his quarterfinal stage tournament opponent Steve McKinnon (42-5, 29 KOs) of Australia weighed in at 209.2 pounds after re-weighing in.

Dustin Jacoby of Arenzville, Illin. weighed in at 206.4 pounds and his quarterfinal stage tournament opponent, Brian Collette (19-1, 16 KOs) of Norfolk, Va., came in at 208.6 pounds.

Danyo Ilunga (51-4, 41 KOs) of Germany and Mourad Bouzidi (75-20-2, 34 KOs) of Tunisia, weighed in at 208.2 pounds and 208.1 pounds, respectively.

Ghita weighed in at 246 pounds and his heavyweight Superfight opponent, Brice Guidon (28-8, 13 KOs), weighed in 234.1 pounds.

Anderson “Braddock” Silva weighed in at 251 pounds for his heavyweight Superfight against Daniel Sim, who weighed in at 272.6 pounds.

Barrett came in at 186.1 pounds and his undefeated middleweight Superfight opponent, Mike Lemaire (9-0, 3 KOs) of San Diego, Calif., tipped the scales at 186.2 pounds.

The first of the two alternate tournament bouts will feature the veteran Koichi of Japan who weighed in at 207.4 pounds and will be fighting Randy Blake who weighed in at 209.1.  The second alternate will have Luis Tavares who weighed in at 206.6 and his opponent Artem Vakhitov weighed in at 204.1.

The final heavyweight Superfight of the night will feature Rico Verhoeven, who weighed in at 253.1 pounds and Errol Zimmerman, who came in at 251 pounds.

Coming off his victory against Murat Direkci, up and comer Joseph Valtellini (8-1, 3 KOs) weighed in at 171.2 pounds.  He will face off against another hungry newcomer, Francois Ambang (9-2, 4 KOs) who weighed in at 169.2 pounds.

In preliminary card action, Chris Mauceri weighed in at 145 pounds and his opponent, Niko Tsigaras, weighed in 2 pounds over at 147.6.

Nick Pace and Levan Makashvili both made weight and will be the second fight of the night, after coming in at 141.1 pounds and 142.6 pounds, respectively

Casey Greene and late addition Robby Plotkin both made weight, coming in at 185.4 pounds and 184.1 pounds, respectively.

The final bout on the undercard will feature Hlavacek, who came in at 170.2 pounds and Paul Malfort, who weighed in at 168.2 pounds.

Doors at Hammerstein Ballroom will open for GLORY 9 New York at 5 p.m. EST and the first preliminary bout will begin at 6 p.m.
