Glover Teixeira: If UFC Needs Opponent For Jon Jones “I’m Here”
By FCF Staff
Although Jon Jones has repeatedly said he wants to fight Alexander Gustafsson next, and the latter predictably wants to fight the UFC light-heavyweight champ, Glover Teixeira continues to work his way towards a title shot.
At UFC 160 this past weekend, the 33 year-old and well rounded vet had few difficulties getting through James Te Huna, as Teixeira tapped him out with a nicely executed first round, guillotine choke. The win was Teixeira’s fourth straight with the promotion, and followed a unanimous decision win he scored over “Rampage” Jackson at UFC on FOX 6.
In a post fight interview with FUEL TV this weekend, Teixeira was asked about the possibility of fighting Jones, and the Brazilian noted:
“Whatever they do, I’ll be happy to get in the Octagon as soon as possible,” said Teixeira. “But listen, if they have trouble finding an opponent for Jon Jones, I’m here.”
Teixeira (21-2) has now won an incredible 19 straight fights.
