Glover Teixeira to Fight Rashad Evans, After “Shogun” Rua Withdraws
By FCF Staff
UFC on FOX 19 has undergone a big change, as the promotion has announced that “Shogun” Rua has withdrawn from the April 16th card due to injury. As a result, fellow light-heavyweight contender Glover Teixeira has agreed to step in and face former champ, Rashad Evans.
No details regarding Rua’s injury were disclosed.
Teixeira (24-4) is coming off finishing victories over Patrick Cummins and Ovince Saint Preux, after he was decisioned by Phil Davis in October, 2014.
Evans (19-4-1) is looking to get back on track after he lost via UD to Ryan Bader last October. The bout marked the first time Evans had fought since 2013, due to knee injuries.
UFC on FOX 19 will take place in Tampa, Florida, and in the main event, Khabib Nurmagomedov will battle fellow lightweight contender Tony Ferguson.
