Gray Maynard and Shane Carwin Out of December Bouts Due to Injuries

Maynard

Jim Miller Stepping Into Face Joe Lauzon

By FCF Staff

The rash of injuries the UFC roster has endured in 2012 isn’t letting up, as the promotion is reporting that both Gray Maynard and Shane Carwin have been forced to withdraw from their bouts next month.

Maynard will no longer fight Joe Lauzon at UFC 155 on December 29th due to a knee injury. As a result, perennial contender Jim Miller has agreed to take his place and will face Lauzon at the Las Vegas bound event.

Miller (21-4) hasn’t competed since May when he was tapped out by Nate Diaz, while Lauzon (22-7) is coming off a submission win over Jamie Varner in August.

Carwin has also been forced to the sidelines due to a knee injury, and will no longer fight opposing TUF coach Roy Nelson at the season’s December 15th finale.

The UFC is still in the process of finding a new opponent for Nelson.
