After earning a win over Teruto Ishihara earlier this year, Gray Maynard believes he can have an impact in both the UFC’s featherweight and lightweight divisions.

The former lightweight contender faced Ishihara at the TUF 25 Finale in July, and worked his way to a decision win over the featherweight. More recently, the 38 year-old Maynard was a guest on MMA Junkie.com Radio, and the veteran fighter had this to say (quote via MMA Junkie):

“(At) 145, I really want to make a statement,” Maynard said. “I want to get to the top names. (At) 155, I believe I could do that too. But I’m down at (145), and it’s pretty easy to make. But if I’ve got to go up to get a fight, I’ll do it if that’s what it takes.”

Maynard also relayed that he hopes to return to the cage in January, before the birth of his second child, in February.

The powerful wrestler has gone 2-3 in his last 5 bouts.
