Conor McGregor was unable to finish Nate Diaz at UFC 196, and was in turn submitted, but Gunnar Nelson says things will be different in the rematch.

Although the UFC has yet to announce the rematch, it’s being reported that the promotion is planning Diaz – McGregor II for UFC 200 on July 9th. Recently Nelson spoke to Starsport, and the Icelandic fighter outlined why he thinks his teammate will take the second bout (quotes via Daily Star):

“I think he will take his time and pick him apart a bit better…”

“I think Diaz won’t be able to get him down when Conor is on and he reserves his energy and his balance is there.”

“I think the second (fight) Conor will pick him apart, but I think he’ll take a little bit more time doing it.”

Nelson, meanwhile, is scheduled to face Albert Tumenov at UFC FN 87 in Rotterdam on May 8th. The welterweight is coming off a decision loss to Demian Maia in December.
