Ilir Latifi Named As Alexander Gustafsson’s Replacement, Fighting Gegard Mousasi At UFC On FUEL TV 9
By FCF Staff
With Alexander Gustafsson no longer available for Saturday’s headliner, due to a cut he incurred recently while training, the Swedish fighter’s teammate Ilir Latifi will now fight Gegard Mousasi.
The UFC confirmed the new match-up this afternoon, which came hours after word had surfaced that doctors would not clear Gustafsson to compete.
Latfi (7-2) will make his UFC debut having won three straight fights. Most recently, “The Sledgehammer” worked his way to a unanimous decision win over Jorge Oliveira, while competing for Superior Combat in October.
Mousasi (33-3-2), who will also be making his Octagon debut, hasn’t competed since January when he submitted Mike Kyle. The former Strikeforce light-heavyweight champ has also won three bouts in a row and is undefeated in his last five.
UFC on FUEL TV 9 will be hosted by Stockholm’s Ericsson Globe Arena.
