IMMAF Adds New MMA World Cup to 2021 Championships Calendar

By press release

The International Mixed Martial Arts Federation has added a new event to its competition calendar for 2021 – the IMMAF MMA World Cup – Prague. The event takes place from 8 – 11 September in Prague and is funded by the Czech Republic’s National Sports Agency. It presents the first in IMMAF’s MMA World Cup Series, designed to offer additional Championships hosting opportunities to cities and National Federations.

Athlete registration opens today for senior amateur competitors from around the world, providing a further international competition platform in 2021 to IMMAF’s World and European Championships. Those wishing to participate should contact their IMMAF affiliated National Federation.

The President of the organising host federation, the Czech Association of MMA (CSMMA), Michal Hamrsmid, said:

“We at the Czech Association of MMA are very happy for the opportunity to host an amateur sport event as prestigious as the 2021 IMMAF World Cup. Participation will give amateur athletes a good opportunity to demonstrate their skills on a global level and to compete with fighters from other countries, including top international athletes. For MMA fans, the tournament will showcase upcoming prospects. On behalf of the Czech Association of MMA, I would like to invite all members of IMMAF family, both athletes and fans, to join us for IMMAF’s first World Cup tournament in Prague, Czech Republic.”

IMMAF President, Kerrith Brown, said:

“We are delighted to be able to offer another competition platform to our athletes, as we return to play, and are grateful for the opportunity afforded to us by the Czech Association of MMA and by the Czech National Sports Agency. As well as providing increased opportunities for competition for existing national teams, we hope the series will extend the chance to a wider pool of athletes, further expanding IMMAF’s talent pool and its competitiveness.”
